Exam Results Day – update and details

Hi everyone, I sincerely hope you are all well at this most difficult of times and managing to have a summer holiday. We have been waiting for as long as possible to see if the local lockdown restrictions in Greater Manchester would be lifted in advance of exam results day, but unfortunately they haven’t. It is therefore with the deepest regret that I must announce we will not now be open on Thursday to students. Instead we will email you your results. We understand this is absolutely not ideal and it is most certainly not what we want either.

For Year 11 students this has been the most unfortunate end to a school year anyone has ever had and we appreciate that this is yet another blow. Unfortunately due to the local restrictions and in order to ensure we prevent any increased risk to individuals we have had to take this decision. The details on what happens next are now below. This includes plans to help those who may not have the grades they needed to get into college.

We very much feel like we have unfinished business with the class of 2020 and when the situation allows we will be back in contact to provide you with a much better end to your time at St Cuthbert’s than you have so far had. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers until we meet again and hope that you can now move on to the next phase in your lives with what you need to achieve all of your dreams and ambitions.

What happens next?

1. You will receive an email early on Thursday morning to inform you of your GCSE results.

2. If you are in year 11, you will be contacted by someone from school to check you understand your results and have a clear route to your next phase of education. This will happen from Thursday but will take a few days to contact everyone.

3. If you are in year 10, you will have a chance to discuss your results with your form tutor when you return to school. The focus will then quickly change to ensuring we help you to achieve the best possible results you can in your exams next year.

All the very best for Thursday and whether you are in year 10 and returning to us in September or in year 11 and moving on to the next phase of your life, always aim to ‘be the best that you can be’.
