A socially-distanced coffee morning at St Cuthbert's RC High School has raised over £250 for Macmillan. Despite Covid-19 restrictions, staff members joined together, observing social distancing guidelines, to show support for the cancer charity. A huge success, the morning raised £257.95. Mrs Battaglia, who organised the event, said: "From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of Macmillan, thank you so much." The first Macmillan coffee morning took place in 1990, raising over £165.5 million for the charity. Macmillan offers a broad range of cancer information and support services - including a free support line and a community of over 7,700 healthcare professionals. Funded almost entirely by donations, demand for Macmillan's services is constantly growing, but the charity receives no government funding. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. There are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.
