St Cuthbert's has recently ran an Essay writing competition for our year 9 and 10s, where students submitted academic pieces of writing which explored both historical and current social issues. The competition was sponsored by Hybrid Electrical Solutions and Unite Interiors Limited, two local small business who are invested in the success of our young people. The response to the competition was exceptional and all pupils are thanked for their excellent participation in the competition.

Mary Saju who won First Prize in Year 10 for her excellent piece comparing how social class is presented in the Korean Oscar winning film, Parasite and how it transfers into society today
Olivia Buckley who's powerful piece on modern day sexism won Second Prize for year 10.
Wiktoria Pancyk worn Second place in Year 9 for her critical exploration of culture as presented in the novel, Things Fall Apart.
Josef Pevec- Loft who won First Place in Year 9 for his exceptional and thought- provoking essay on Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict.
The school is so proud all of students who entered and can't wait to run the competition again from September!
